Kathmandu: Rapper-turned-politician Balen Shah, the mayor of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu, is once again in the limelight. Balen Shah, who drew the map of Greater Nepal in response to Akhand Bharat, has now threatened to stop the release of Adipurush film in Nepal. Balen Shah claims that in this film Sita has been described as the daughter of India whereas Sita was born in Janakpur, Nepal. He threatened that if this mistake was not rectified within Nepal and India, he would not allow any Indian film to be shown in Kathmandu.

Following this threat from Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah, the Censor Board of Nepal has withheld its permission to show the film in the country. The film Adipurush is based on the story of the holy Ramayana of Hindus. It is being told that after this threat from Nepali leader Balen Shah, the makers of the film have removed the controversial statement made on Sita’s birthplace. Earlier, on June 8, Mayor Shah had put a map of Greater Nepal in his office after putting a map of united India in the new Parliament building.

Not only this, on the lines of Balen Shah, other leaders of Nepal had also drawn a map of united India in protest against India. The main opposition party in Nepal, CPN UML, had demanded that a diplomatic note be sent to India against Akhand Bharat. Lumbini and Kapilvastu of Nepal were shown in this map of unbroken India of Ashoka period. This whole matter has increased further at a time when the border dispute between the two countries regarding Kalapani is already heated.

Many areas of India’s UP, Bihar and Himachal Pradesh states were shown in this map of Greater Nepal planted by Balen Shah. Nepal’s rapper Balen Shah is the 15th mayor of Kathmandu. He won the election of mayor by defeating the leader of Nepali Congress. He was an independent candidate and is the first person to do so. Many analysts say that Balen Shah is following the path of pro-China KP Oli and wants to remain in headlines by opposing India. On the other hand, the mayor of Kathmandu, a Nepali citizen, is advising to stop this foolish act and improve the water system in the city.
