Nepal Police arrested 10 Indians for illegally obtaining citizenship

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravindra Regmi said that the team of Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office on Saturday nabbed the Indian nationals from different parts of Kathmandu. All of them are residents of Bihar.
Ten Indian nationals, including three women, have been arrested in Kathmandu for illegally obtaining Nepalese citizenship by showing fake documents. Police gave this information. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravindra Regmi said that the team of Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office on Saturday nabbed the Indian nationals from different parts of Kathmandu. All of them are residents of Bihar. Of those arrested, seven are men and three are women. The Kathmandu Valley Police Office revealed their identity at a press conference at their office on Sunday.
Regmi said that the Indian citizens obtained Nepali citizenship certificates from the district administration offices of Rupandehi, Bara and Parsa districts by showing fake documents. According to ‘The Kathmandu Post’ newspaper, the police said that those arrested had been living in Nepal for a long time and some of them had been living in the country since 2006. The MyRepublica newspaper quoted police as saying that the arrests came after a three-month investigation and that the arrested people were in the business of making sweets and running a sweet shop in Nepal.
