In January, both Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 14 years in prison in the same case, which revolved around the illegal sale of state gifts Khan received during his tenure as prime minister. According to a PTI report, Bushra said there were rumors within the party of him being an “American agent” and that he was “poisoned using a popular toilet cleaner.” He mentioned that “three drops” of toilet cleaner were mixed into his food, claiming that a person’s health declines after a month of consumption.

The former first lady claimed, “My eyes are swollen, I am feeling pain and discomfort in the chest and stomach and food and water are also tasting bitter. Earlier, some suspicious substance was mixed in the honey and now my Toilet cleaner has been mixed in the food.”

She said, “Someone in jail told me what was mixed in my food. I will not tell anyone’s name.” Bushra told the court that he was treated respectfully in Bani Gala sub-jail, but said he was banned from opening windows for some time. Earlier, the PTI party had alleged that Bushra was given “poisoned food” while in custody, adding that he had experienced severe pain.
