NSF Director Sethuraman Panchanathan, several other Indian-Americans elected to ‘National Academy of Engineering’

Washington: Sethuraman Panchanathan, director of the ‘National Science Foundation’ in America and several other eminent Indian-American scientists have been elected to the prestigious ‘National Academy of Engineering’. The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) is an independent, nonprofit institution that provides leadership in engineering in the service of the nation. The Indian-American scientists selected for this include Ravi Parashar of Bloom Energy and Tejal Desai of Brown University.
T. Pradeep of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai is the only Indian scientist among the 21 new international members elected to the top US engineering institute. With this, the number of American members in NAE has reached 2,310 and the number of international members has reached 332. Election to the National Academy of Engineering is one of the highest professional honors bestowed on an engineer.
T. Pradeep, Chair Professor, Deepak Parekh Institute and Professor of Chemistry, IIT Chennai, has been selected as the International Fellow for his contributions to cluster chemistry and discovery and implementation of affordable drinking water solutions, NAE said. The election of new NAE members concludes a year-long process. These newly elected members will be formally inducted into the ‘National Academy of Engineering’ at the NAE’s annual meeting to be held on September 29, 2024.
