Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has signed agreements with private healthcare companies to build five affordable ‘multispecialty’ hospitals in the state. Officials gave this information on Thursday. He said that these 100 to 200 bedded hospitals will be established in ‘PPP mode’ in Angul, Badbil, Bhadrak and Jharsuguda.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said this is the first initiative of its kind by any state to develop health facilities in PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode. He said, “Private health service operators have a major role in this. Therefore, we are encouraging private investment in the health sector to set up institutions at the district level.

Patnaik said that the state will ensure all possible assistance to make these hospitals operational soon. Officials said that these five hospitals will be built with an investment of about Rs 500 crore. This will generate employment for more than 3,500 people.
