Pakistan’s army has ruled out the possibility of imposing military rule amid the political crisis and deteriorating law and order situation following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan, saying the entire military leadership, including army chief General Asim Munir, believes in democracy.

The remarks by Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry came after nearly four days of political turmoil due to the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Khan. During this, military establishments including the General Headquarters in Rawalpidi have also been targeted. “There is no question of imposing military rule in the country,” Chowdhary told Geo News.

He said that Army Chief General Asim Munir and the entire military leadership believe in democracy.Chaudhary asserted that the unity of the Army is unbreakable and it will continue to act as a pillar of stability and security for the country.Major General Chaudhary said That the army is united despite internal troublemakers and external enemies. “The dream of dividing the Pakistan Army will remain a dream, the army is and will remain united under the leadership of Army Chief General Asim Munir,” he said.
