Lahore: Women supporters of ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan arrested in connection with arson on military installations in Pakistan will be jailed for 10 years for their “unforgivable crime”. A senior officer gave this information. Addressing the media here on Saturday evening, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Ataullah Tarar said a joint investigation team has been formed to trace the mastermind of those attacks. “All those involved in the attack on military installations, including women, will be punished severely,” he said. Tarar said, “The women who attacked military installations on May 9 will get 10 years’ imprisonment as their crime is unpardonable.” ” It may be noted that widespread violence had erupted in Pakistan after Khan was arrested by paramilitary forces outside the Islamabad High Court on May 9. Khan (70), who heads the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was later released on bail.

The case against Imran will go on in the military court

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan may be tried in a military court for his alleged involvement in the May 9 violence. The Express Tribune newspaper quoted Asif as saying that if evidence of Imran Khan’s involvement in the May 9 violence comes to the fore in the coming days, he may face trial in a military court.

He also confirmed that so far no case has been registered against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party chief in connection with the May 9 attack. The minister said that of course…there is a possibility of Imran Khan being tried in a military court. He said this in response to a question on whether the ousted prime minister could be prosecuted under the Arms Act.

His remarks came days after Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that Khan would be tried in a military court as the former prime minister was the mastermind behind the May 9 incidents.
