Pakistan has condemned the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya. The country’s Foreign Office said in a statement that the investiture ceremony is a sign of India’s growing majoritarianism. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that a “mob of extremists” had demolished the Babri Masjid. It said, unfortunately, the Supreme Judiciary of India not only acquitted the criminals responsible for this heinous act, but also allowed the construction of a temple on the site of the demolished mosque.
It said, the developments of the last 31 years, which led to today’s consecration ceremony, are indicative of growing majoritarianism in India. This is an important aspect of the ongoing efforts to marginalize Indian Muslims socially, economically and politically. Pakistan also claimed that the mosque is a stain on India’s democracy. A growing list of mosques, including the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi and the Shahi Idgah Mosque in Mathura, are facing the same threat of desecration and destruction, the country claimed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today presided over the consecration ceremony, which was attended by thousands of dignitaries and locals. Several politicians, actors and sports stars visited Ayodhya today and attended the installation ceremony of Lord Ram’s idol in the newly constructed temple. The Supreme Court of India said in 2019 that there was evidence that proved the existence of a Hindu temple at the Babri site. It gave permission for the construction of the temple at the disputed site. It also ordered the authorities to provide a separate piece of land for the construction of a grand mosque.
