The two leaders met here on the sidelines of the G-7 summit in Hiroshima. During the talks, they also discussed Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming visit to France in July for ‘Bastille Day’ (National Day of France).

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) tweeted, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a productive meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders took stock of bilateral relations between India and France in various fields. The leaders discussed the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Modi to France for Bastille Day and took stock of progress in the India-France Strategic Partnership.

Cooperation in trade and economic fields, including civil aviation, renewable energy, culture, co-production and manufacturing in the defense sector, civil nuclear cooperation were discussed. Both the leaders agreed to expand the partnership to new areas. The Ministry of External Affairs had earlier said that Modi would attend this year’s Bastille Day parade in Paris on July 14 as a special guest. A contingent of the Indian Armed Forces will also participate in the parade along with their French counterparts. The ministry said that on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Indo-French strategic partnership, Prime Minister Modi has accepted the invitation of French President Macron.
