“Taking forward the Special Strategic Partnership, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol,” the ministry tweeted.
Both the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations during the meeting. The two countries are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic ties this year. They agreed to deepen cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, high technology, IT hardware manufacturing, defence, semiconductors and culture, according to the ministry.

According to the statement, the two leaders also discussed India’s G20 chairmanship and South Korea’s Indo-Pacific strategy. India, the US and many other global powers are committed to a free, open and prosperous Indo-Pacific in view of China’s growing military interference in the region. China has been talking for a long time about the need to secure territory. China claims almost the entire area of ​​the disputed South China Sea. It has disputes in the region with several other countries, including Taiwan, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam. China has also built several artificial islands and military bases in the South China Sea. Prime Minister Modi arrived in Hiroshima on Friday to attend the three sessions of the G7 summit at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
