Preparations for Muizzu OUT begin in Maldives, main opposition MDP parliamentary group agrees to bring impeachment

Maldives President Muizzu is the target of the opposition because of his policies and statements. Even before that, opposition parties had raised questions on Muizzu’s anti-India stance and growing friendship with China. But now it seems that the countdown for the anti-India Moijju government has started. Maldives MDP parliamentary group has agreed to submit impeachment against President Muizzu. The main opposition MDP has a majority in Parliament. It is being said that enough signatures have been collected to present an impeachment motion against President Mohammad Muizzu. An MDP lawmaker told the Sun on Monday afternoon that the MDP has gathered enough signatures for an impeachment motion in partnership with the Democrats.

Maldives is a country where once there were people of Buddhist religion and there were also a number of Hindus. The country which has always been India’s friend. But now due to the policies of Mohammed Muizzu, who recently became the President, the relations between India and Maldives have turned sour. India’s concern started increasing after Mohammad Muizzu assumed the post of President. Moijju has always been seen openly in opposition to India. He had given the slogan of India Out even during the elections. After which he won with majority. President Muizzu is more inclined towards China. Recently, after returning from China, Moijju’s first step was against India. Muizzu again issued orders for the Indian troops to return.

Lawmakers clashed with each other in the Maldives Parliament yesterday, disrupting a special session called to seek parliamentary approval for President Mohammed Muizzu’s cabinet ministers. According to a viral video online, chaos broke out in Parliament when kicking and punching broke out between MPs. The widely shared clip also showed some members pulling each other down from the podium.
