President of 77th session of UN General Assembly will visit India later this month

Last year, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had met Korosi on the sidelines of a program of the United Nations Security Council chaired by India. According to him, apart from this, Korosi will also address foreign policy think tank ‘Indian Council for World Affairs’. Kubiak said during his visit, Korosi will meet scientists and visit a water conservation project site. Hungarian diplomat Korosi is currently the 77th President of the United Nations General Assembly.
Kubiak said that after India he would travel to China where he is likely to visit the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS) besides meeting senior officials. According to the official website of CBAS, the purpose of CBAS is to help implement the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Jaishankar met Korosi during his presidency of the United Nations Security Council in December last year.
The two discussed India’s chairmanship of the Council, the nation’s goals during the G20 presidency and the importance of reformed multilateralism. Korosi had tweeted after the meeting that it was “always a pleasure” to meet India’s foreign minister. Jaishankar, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Corosi had last month unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the ‘North Lawn’ of the UN Headquarters.
The presidency of the UN Security Council rotates every month and India got it in the month of December. Apart from this, India has got the presidency of G20 for one year on December 1. The G20 is an intergovernmental forum of the world’s major developed and developing economies. This includes Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union.
