In the year 1985, he invested in the Bombay Stock Exchange with an investment of only five thousand rupees. This was the time when his studies were going on. He told that in the year 1986, he had bought 5000 shares of Tata team, which he bought at a price of Rs.43. Within three months, this share had reached Rs 143. That is, in three months, he had made a profit of more than three times. After this he made the market his life and created history in it.

He started the new airline company Akasa Air in the year 2022 itself. Through this airline, he had entered the air space. However, he could not see this airline company touch great heights as he passed away just a week after its launch. Jhunjhunwala was last seen at the launching event of Akaya Air. Rakesh and his wife hold 45.97 per cent stake in the airlines company, which is the largest stake.
