The moon of Islam’s holy month of Ramzan was visible in Saudi Arabia on Sunday. Along with this, the first roza (fast) will be observed on Monday in many countries of West Asia.
Saudi Arabia’s state TV has reported that officials have sighted the moon. After this, many Arab countries and Iraq and Syria also announced the start of the month of Ramadan from Monday.
The leaders congratulated the people on the beginning of the holy month. During the month of Ramadan, people of the Muslim community do not eat or drink anything from sunrise to sunset. They worship and recite the Quran during this time, as well as make donations.
The month of Ramadan is starting this time amid increased tension in West Asia due to Israel’s war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. However, in many countries of South and East Asia, the month of Ramadan generally starts a day later than Saudi Arabia, that is, in these countries the holy month will start from Tuesday.
However, the Arabian Peninsula countries Oman and Jordan have announced the start of the month of Ramadan from Tuesday. Saudi Arabia’s King Salman specifically pointed to the Israel-Hamas war in a statement issued to the public after the announcement of Ramadan.
Salman said, “The month of Ramzan is starting this year amidst our suffering. In view of the ongoing attacks on our brothers in Palestine, we call on the international community to recognize its responsibilities and stop these brutal crimes and provide corridors for safe humanitarian aid.
