New Delhi: Without rice, people’s food in India is not complete. Wherever Indians are, they cannot live without eating rice, but for the last few months, the rise in the price of rice has increased the concern of the government. In order to control the rising price of rice, the central government took a tough decision on the export of rice. The government banned the export of all raw rice except basmati rice. Export of all rice except Basmati rice and Usna rice has been banned. India’s share in rice exports is 40 per cent. In such a situation, the concerns of many countries have started increasing due to the ban on exports.

Why did you decide

The retail prices of rice in the country have increased by 11.5 per cent in the last 12 months. For the last three months, the price of rice has been increasing continuously. In such a situation, the government has taken strict steps to control the prices. Taking a big decision on the export of rice, the Central Government has banned the export of all rice except Basmati. The decision was taken by the government to increase domestic supply and keep prices under control in the retail market. The non-basmati white rice accounts for about 25 per cent of the total rice exported from the country, the government said. At the same time, India’s share in the total rice exports of the world is 40%. This decision of India has affected many countries including America.

The reason behind this decision of India

This decision of India is going to have an impact on countries around the world. This decision was taken to control the domestic price in India, but it has increased the concern of inflation worldwide. In fact, due to the irregularity of the rains, the paddy crop has suffered a lot. Paddy production has been affected due to less rainfall in major paddy growing states of Karnataka, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu. Because of which, in view of the shortage of rice and the possibility of rising prices in the coming days, the government decided to ban the export of rice.

Last year, India exported 22 million tonnes of rice. On the other hand, Russia has broken the grain agreement. Russia has broken the Black Sea grain agreement with Ukraine. Due to which the fear of global food crisis has arisen. The breaking of this agreement by Russia has given a big blow to the world grain markets. After coming out of this agreement with Russia, the food crisis is deepening for the countries of Asia, Middle East and Africa. The prices of food grains are increasing wildly. With Russia pulling out of the grain accord on the one hand and India banning the export of non-basmati white rice on the other, it could have implications for the whole world. There could be a danger of food crisis at the global level.
