Russia launched 122 missiles and 36 drones against Ukrainian targets, killing at least 18 civilians across the country, with an air force official saying it was the largest air attack in the 22-month war. Ukraine’s military chief of staff, Valery Zaluzny, said the Ukrainian Air Force intercepted 87 missiles and 27 Martyr-type drones overnight. Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk wrote on his official Telegram channel: The largest air strike since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the previous largest attack took place in November 2022 when Russia fired 96 missiles against Ukraine. Air Force records show the highest this year, March 9, was 81 missiles. Fighting on the front line has been largely disrupted by winter weather after Ukraine’s summer counter-offensive failed to achieve significant success along the nearly 1,000 km contact line.
