Prior to the arrival of Russian crude, a container ship Crystal St Petersburg reached Karachi port in just 21 days. The ship entered the Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) on Thursday. Maritime Affairs Minister Syed Faisal Sabzwari received the ship along with Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Chairman Syedin Raza Zaidi and Consul General of Russia Andrey Viktorovich Fedorov. According to media reports, the first consignment of subsidized Russian crude under an agreement between Pakistan and Moscow in April will reach Pakistan via Oman by small vessels in early June.

According to KPT’s press release, Sabzwari termed the occasion as a historic achievement of the government, which has provided direct access to the Russian markets to the business community. He said that this would directly open the export of Pakistani goods to Russia. Similarly, it will be beneficial for Russia as well and for this Russia will have strong trade relations with Central Asian states as well.
