[ad_1]
In the first 6 months of 2023, Russia spent 12 percent more on defense than the original target. The Russian government plans to spend 17.1 percent of the total fund on ‘National Defense’. The increased expenditure on the war gave impetus to the economy of Russia and industrial production increased rapidly. However, due to low exports, Russia’s budget deficit has increased to $ 28 billion. Russia is now spending more on defense due to which its deficit is going to increase further.
NATO countries in tension due to Russia’s announcement
Due to the Ukraine war, Russia has to reduce the expenditure on schools, hospitals and infrastructure projects. Russia is now increasing its weapons manufacturing rate. The tension of NATO countries has increased due to this announcement of Russia. The arms stockpiles of NATO countries are getting empty. America had even told Ukraine about this. Till now NATO countries have helped arms worth billions of dollars. Meanwhile, Russian officials claimed on Saturday that a Ukrainian drone strike damaged a tanker in the Kerch Strait near the annexed Crimean peninsula.
Oleg Kryuchkov, a Russian-appointed adviser to the head of Crimea, said residents of the city of Kerch heard explosions late on Friday, the state-run TASS news agency reported. On its part, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Novorossiysk said the loud noises were the result of an attack on a Russian-flagged tanker by Ukrainian armed forces in the Kerch Strait, a narrow sea passage between Russia and occupied Crimea. “The engine room of one tanker was damaged, however its crew is safe,” it said. Two tugboats reached in emergency.
Ukraine used maritime drone
As a result of the attack, vehicular traffic was temporarily suspended, but it has resumed. Vladimir Rogov, a senior Russian-appointed official in the Zaporizhia military-civilian administration, claimed that Ukraine had used a maritime drone to target the tanker. Naval drones, or sea drones, are small, unmanned vessels that operate on or under the surface of water. Ukraine has not yet responded to the alleged attack.
