Kiev. Russia and Ukraine carried out more than 12 drone attacks on each other’s targets on Sunday for the second consecutive day. Ukraine targeted a Russian military airbase, while a Ukrainian civilian was killed by drone debris near the Black Sea coast. Russia’s Defense Ministry said in a post on messaging app Telegram that at least 35 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight in three regions of south-western Russia.
According to a Russian Telegram channel, Russian targets targeted by Ukraine include a military air base where bombers are kept. The channel also posted a short video of a drone flying over houses, which it claimed was in the Russian city of Morozovsk. The 559th ‘Bomber Aviation Regiment’ of the Russian Air Force is deployed at the Russian military airport located in this city.
In a separate statement, Governor of Russia’s Rostov province, Vasily Golubev, reported “large-scale drone strikes” near Morozovsk and another town in the west, but did not mention the military air base. Golubev said most of the drones were shot down and there were no casualties. He did not comment on the damage. Ukraine’s air force said on Sunday it shot down 20 Iran-made drones sent overnight by Russian troops over southern and western Ukraine.
