S. Jaishankar meets Malaysian Foreign Minister, discusses multifaceted bilateral ties

Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry said in an official statement that Jaishankar met Malaysian Foreign Minister Hassan here and they had “useful and candid” discussions covering multifaceted dimensions of Malaysia-India bilateral affairs as well as regional areas of mutual interest. And included exchange of views on international issues.
Kuala Lumpur. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday held “useful and candid” discussions with his Malaysian counterpart Mohammed bin Haji Hassan on the “multidimensional” bilateral relations between India and Malaysia and regional and international issues. Jaishankar is in Kuala Lumpur on the final and third leg of his three-nation tour of Singapore, Philippines and Malaysia.
Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry said in an official statement that Jaishankar met Malaysian Foreign Minister Hassan here and they had “useful and candid” discussions covering multifaceted dimensions of Malaysia-India bilateral affairs as well as regional areas of mutual interest. And included exchange of views on international issues. The two Ministers also discussed exchange of high-level visits and convening of the 7th Joint Commission Meeting of Malaysia and India at a mutually acceptable date.
According to the statement, this is the first meeting between Jaishankar and him since Hasan took charge in December 2023. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaishankar will meet Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today and may also meet Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo. According to the statement, the objective of Jaishankar’s visit is to enhance cooperation between India and Malaysia and expand understanding of shared challenges and opportunities.
