Stock Market Closing Bell: Heavy action was seen in the Indian stock market on the fifth trading day of the week and the last trading day of the month. After a sluggish start, the market closed with a bounce. During trading, the Sensex had fallen to 72,099.32. However, by the time the market closed, it was at 72,500.30 with a rise of 0.27 percent or 195.42 points. At the same time, Nifty closed at 21,982.80 with a rise of 0.14 percent or 31.65 points. Shares of 24 companies on Bombay Stock Exchange’s three-share index Sensex closed in the green. Whereas, six companies closed in loss. IndusInd, Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid, HCL Technology, Asian Paints and Maruti were among the top gainers in the stock market. Whereas, shares of Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors and Hindustan Unilever were included in the category of top losers.

There was a decline in almost all sectors on Nifty in the morning. Whereas, there was a decline in IT, media and health care till the market closed. Apart from this, all the sectors closed in profit. Shares of Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, IndusInd, Tata Consumer and Britannia were among the top gainers on Nifty. Whereas, shares of Apollo Hospital, Bajaj Auto, LTIMINDTREE and Eicher Motors were included in the category of top losers.

The Indian market had a weak opening amid a series of fluctuations in the market due to weak trend in global markets and settlement of monthly derivatives contracts. BSE’s 30-share Sensex opened at 72,398.39 points with a gain of 93.51 points in early trade. At the same time, NSE’s Nifty opened at 21,963.70 points with a gain of 12.55 points. However, later a series of fluctuations started in both Sensex and Nifty. In other Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi, Japan’s Nikkei and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were in loss. Whereas China’s Shanghai Composite was in profit.
