Singapore Prime Minister’s brother said, the government is torturing my family

Lee Hsien Yang, the brother of Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, has accused government authorities of torturing his family. The tussle between the brothers escalated after Teo Chee Hian, Coordinating Minister for National Security, told parliament in a written reply on Thursday that Yang was accused of providing false evidence in judicial proceedings related to Quan Yew’s will. And his wife, Lee Swet Fern, is under investigation. Yang and Fern have been accused of lying under oath before a panel of three judges and a disciplinary tribunal, the minister said.

He told parliament that both had agreed to join the police inquiry but later refused, which is “disappointing”. In a copy of the reply made available to parliament on Friday, Hian said: “Police have advised Yang and Fern to reconsider joining the investigation, but they have left Singapore and are still out of the country.” ”

Yang later said in a post on Facebook that he and his sister, Li Wei Ling, had said they were accused of “misusing government machinery against them and their families” while facing questioning in a case related to the execution of the will. The fear of leaving is haunting. Yang further wrote, “The harassment of my family by the Singaporean authorities continues unabated.” There was no immediate comment from the Prime Minister’s Office, but Loong has repeatedly dismissed the allegations made by his siblings as “completely baseless”.
