Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati said in early March that he expected the city would see the most tourists ever in a single day during the solar eclipse. The local body of Niagara has also started preparations in this regard. A state of emergency has been declared for the day on Thursday, citing severe traffic jams, heavy demand for emergency services and problems with mobile phone networks.

The total solar eclipse will pass through North America, Mexico, the United States and Canada. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, completely hiding the Sun’s rays. The sun’s rays will be completely blocked for a few minutes in the city of Niagara.
