New Delhi, 28 September (Hindustan Reporter). The US Mission in India has surpassed its annual target of processing more than one million nonimmigrant visa applications this year.
US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti personally handed over the one millionth visa to an Indian couple traveling to see their son graduate at MIT. The US Embassy says that this is a symbol of the strong relations between America and India.
“We are pleased to announce that the US Mission in India has reached and surpassed its goal of processing one million visa applications in 2023,” the embassy said in an ex-post. We will not stop here and will continue our progress in the coming months, so that more Indian applicants can have the opportunity to travel to the United States.
Ambassador Eric Garcetti greeted the couple as “Mr. and Mrs. One Million” when handing over their visas. The couple will visit the US in May next year.
Last year, more than 12 lakh Indians visited America. More than 10 percent of all visa applicants from across the world applying for US visas are Indians.
