The first portable green hydrogen generator is being built in Australia

Canberra: Scientists at Australia’s National Research Agency have begun work on a project to build the country’s first portable green hydrogen generator. The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) launched the project on Friday with funding of A$10 million (US$6.5 million) over six years. The portable green hydrogen generator can be easily moved from one place to another safely.

Catalytic static mixers are specialized devices that mix liquids for better control and speed up chemical reactions without any moving parts, researcher John Chifari explained in a media release. He informed that now this hydrogen production system will be able to produce hydrogen locally and on demand from the carrier, this liquid being stored safely like diesel or petrol. According to Australia’s National Hydrogen Strategy, the industry could add 50 billion Australian dollars (US$32.5 billion) to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 2050 and create around 16,000 jobs.
