The UH-60JA Black Hawk helicopter went missing on April 6 shortly after taking off from a military base on Miyako Island for a reconnaissance mission in Japan’s southernmost island. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Monday expressed “deep sorrow” over the deaths and vowed to do everything possible to locate the remaining crew members. Officials are looking into how to retrieve the wreckage of the crashed helicopter from the sea to determine the cause of the accident.
