Terrible news is coming from Auckland, New Zealand. Two of the three youths from Gujarat who had gone for a picnic on the Peeha beach here have died due to drowning. The names of the deceased youths are Anshul Shah and Saurin Patel. The third youth, Apoorva Modi, survived because he knew how to swim. All the three youths were residents of Ahmedabad. Out of these, the deceased Anshul and Apoorva, who survived narrowly, were with their wives.
Anshul died by drowning in the sea in front of his wife’s eyes. She was shocked to see the whole incident. The two married women were on the seashore when the three friends went into the sea. It is said that a huge wave came and started carrying all three away. Just then Saureen holds Apoorva’s hand while Anshul gets washed away in the water. Saurin and Apoorva were slowly trying to come to the shore, when another wave came and both got separated. Since Apoorva knew how to swim, he could somehow get out.
According to reports, someone called the helpline number 111 and the coastguards arrived after about 15 minutes. After some time, an attempt was made to bring out both the youths drowned in the sea and give them CRP but they could not be saved.
According to media reports, the dead bodies will be handed over to the relatives after the postmortem. Bringing the bodies of the dead to India is likely to cost a lot, so the relatives will decide tomorrow whether to perform the last rites there or at home. Indian High Commission has also been requested for help.
