UK focusing on strengthening ties with India in the field of science and innovation

UK Secretary of State for South Asia Lord Tariq Ahmed arrived in India on Saturday on a four-day visit during which he will focus on strengthening ties in the areas of science, research and innovation. Tariq’s visit to Rajasthan will be his first visit to his mother’s birthplace of Jodhpur as UK Foreign Secretary for South Asia. He will visit the iconic Mehrangarh Fort and discuss education, sustainability and gender equality with women leaders. Tariq New Delhi will launch the ‘English Proficiency for Youth’ program co-developed by the British Council and Microsoft India, which will enhance global employability opportunities for Indian youth, especially young women. Ministers will announce the winners of the ‘UK-India Health-Tech Boot Camp’ to encourage health-tech innovations from India. Tariq will go to Hyderabad at the end of his visit.
