UNGA passes resolution against Russia on Ukraine war, India-China distance

new york (Best Hindu News): A resolution was passed in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on late Thursday night Indian time amidst the ongoing attacks in Ukraine by Russia. The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on the need to reach a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
141 members voted in favor of the motion while seven opposed it. At the same time, 32 members including China and India remained absent during the voting. The UNGA has passed a non-binding resolution. The resolution calls for an end to hostilities with Russia and the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine.
The resolution called on member states and international organizations to redouble support for diplomatic efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine in line with the Charter. Ukraine reaffirms its commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, which extend to its maritime boundary. At the same time reiterated its demand that Russia as soon as possible completely and unconditionally withdraw all its military forces from the territory of Ukraine within the internationally recognized borders and called for the cessation of hostilities.
