US President Joe Biden on Friday named Indian-American Neera Tandon as his domestic policy advisor to assist him in formulating and implementing the domestic policy agenda. Biden said, “I am pleased to announce that Neera Tandon will continue to build and implement my domestic policy, from economic mobility and racial equality to health care, immigration and education.” Will replace Susan Rice, who was the domestic policy advisor.
Biden said, “Tandon will be the first Asian-American in the history of the White House to lead one of its three important policy councils.” Oversaw decision-making processes in the domestic, economic, and national security team. He has 25 years of experience in public policy, has served three presidents and led one of the nation’s largest think tanks for nearly a decade.
Tandon is currently serving as Senior Advisor to President Biden and Secretary of Staff. He has served in the administrations of both Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. Apart from this, she has served for many think tanks besides helping the presidential campaign. She was also the President and CEO (Executive President) of ‘Center for American Progress’ and ‘Center for American Progress Action Fund’.
