Beijing (Uttam Hindu News): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian on December 11. Abdallahian praised China’s efforts to achieve a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, as the country currently holds the presidency of the UN Security Council.
He thanked China for its contribution in promoting rapprochement between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and said Iran is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields and promote the steady development of Iran-China relations.
Wang Yi said that China will continue to implement the important consensus reached between the presidents of the two countries this year, strengthen communication and mutual trust, expand cooperation, coordinate and cooperate on international and multilateral occasions, and practice true multilateralism. We stand ready to work with Iran to safeguard international fairness and justice, along with the legitimate rights and interests of the two countries and a large number of developing countries, and to promote the stability and long-term development of China-Iran relations.
Furthermore, the two sides mainly discussed the situation in Gaza. Abdullahiyan said Iran opposes the killing of women and children and advocates an immediate ceasefire and opening of humanitarian relief channels in Gaza. The United Nations should play an important role in resolving the Palestine issue. Iran supports the global security initiatives proposed by China and hopes that China will be more actively committed to easing the situation in Gaza, resolving the Palestine issue, and maintaining regional peace and stability.
Wang Yi said that on the issue of the Palestine-Israel conflict, China’s position is to end the war as soon as possible, ensure humanitarian relief and restore the “two-state solution.” China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with Arab and Islamic countries to create conditions for returning to the “two-state solution” and play a role in truly resolving the Palestine issue.
