He said, “We are also aware of the allegations by the Congress Party that the tax authorities have frozen some of their bank accounts in such a way that it will become challenging to campaign effectively in the upcoming elections. “We encourage fair, transparent and timely legal processes for each of these issues.”

Indian Foreign Ministry officials had summoned the acting deputy head of the US Mission, Gloria Barbena, to the office in South Block. The meeting lasted more than 30 minutes.
