Celebrating with PLA
According to Pakistan affairs experts, Shahbaz has made the offer at a time when Pakistan’s Army Chief General Aseem Munir was calling the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China and the Pakistan Army as brothers. General Munir made this remark on the occasion of completion of 96 years of establishment of PLA at Army Headquarters in Rawalpindi. He had said that the PLA and the Pakistan Army are committed to protecting each other’s collective interests.
New phase of CPEC
Both countries are preparing to start the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) this month. The CPEC passes through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and the Chinese-held Shaksgam Valley in Ladakh. The PLA anniversary celebrations in Rawalpindi and the launch of the second phase of CPEC raise the prospect of a two-front threat to India.
