Why Rishi Sunak went to hear Ram Katha by Morari Bapu chanted Jai Sia Ram

London: UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has proudly called himself a Hindu many times. The same happened on 15th August i.e. Tuesday when he went to listen to Ramkatha to celebrate India’s independence. On the occasion of India’s Independence Day, Morari Bapu’s Ramkatha was organized at Jesus College, Cambridge University, UK. On this occasion, Sunak’s arrival there became like ‘icing on top’. He described his presence on the occasion of Indian Independence Day as a proud moment for him. A five-minute video of him has also surfaced in which he has told that he has reached the event not as a PM but as a Hindu.

Sunak started his address with ‘Jai Siyaram’. After this he said that he is feeling very good coming here. Sunak said, ‘For me my faith is very personal. It steers me in the right direction in every moment of my life. Being the Prime Minister is a great honor but it is equally a tough job. You have to take many decisions which are not easy. Difficult choices have to be made. My religion gives me courage and courage to take such decisions for the country which prove to be the best. Sunak further said, ‘It was an occasion of great joy and pride for me when I lit the lamps on the occasion of Diwali at 11 Downing Street while in the office of Chancellor.’

Sunak told that just as the huge golden Hanuman is sitting behind Morari Bapu, in the same way gold Ganapati is kept on his desk at 10 Downing Street. It constantly reminds me of listening and considering issues before acting, he added. Sunak said he has fond memories of visiting the local temple in Southampton when he was growing up. He recalled how his parents and family used to organize havans, pujas and aartis. Thereafter, he along with his siblings and cousins would help in serving lunch and prasad.

Taking inspiration from Lord Rama
He said that perhaps the greatest value is duty or service as we know it. These Hindu values are also British values to some extent. Sunak said that today from here he is remembering the ‘Ramayana’ that Bapu is telling and also remembering ‘Bhagavad Gita’ and ‘Hanuman Chalisa’. Sunak said, ‘For me Lord Ram will always be an inspirational figure to face the challenges of my life with courage and serve the government humbly and selflessly.’ He ended his address with ‘Jai Siya Ram’.
