So far, more than 50 Chinese people wishing to leave Haiti and one Filipino citizen have safely left Haiti under China’s international assistance.
Chen Luning, Chinese Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, said the Chinese government pays attention to the safety of all Chinese people living in Haiti and is making efforts to ensure their safety. The Chinese Foreign Ministry immediately provided assistance to Chinese living in Haiti to evacuate in accordance with the consular security emergency arrangement.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry evacuated a total of more than 50 Chinese people from Port-au-Prince to the Dominican Republic in two consignments on March 22 and April 11, respectively, the ambassador said. Along with this, their temporary rehabilitation and return to China has also been done.

Starting on February 29, several extremist organizations attacked public facilities in the capital Port-au-Prince and demanded Prime Minister Ariel Henry step down. Henry announced on March 11 that the Haitian government would resign following the formation of an interim Presidential Council.
According to data from the International Organization for Migration, from March 8 to 27, more than 50 thousand people left Port-au-Prince. Currently 5.5 million people in Haiti are facing food shortage and waiting for humanitarian assistance.
