Britain’s Defense Ministry said on Saturday that several additional Royal Air Force warplanes had been sent to the area to help deter an Iranian drone attack. The aircraft and air refueling tankers are being deployed as part of Britain’s ‘Operation Shader’ against terrorist group Islamic State (ISIS) in the region.
“I condemn in the strongest terms Iran’s irresponsible attack against Israel,” Sunak said in a statement issued from 10 Downing Street, the prime minister’s residence-cum-office. These will reinforce Operation Shedhar, the UK’s ongoing counter-ISIS campaign in Iraq and Syria. “We will continue to work closely with our regional partners to de-escalate tensions,” it said. Minister Grant Shapps said Iran’s “senseless” actions amid the Israel-Hamas conflict further undermine regional security. After Iran’s drone and missile attack on Israel, India has said that it is extremely concerned about the escalating conflict between the two countries and the attack threatens regional peace and security.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said, “We are extremely concerned by the increasing hostility between Israel and Iran. This threatens peace and security in the region.” A statement issued by the ministry said, ”We urge immediate de-escalation of tensions, exercise of restraint, refrain from violence and return to the path of diplomacy.
