Central government will provide free dish service in remote areas on Indo-China border

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday announced that the Center will provide free Doordarshan DTH connections in villages along the India-China border. He said that better mobile connectivity would be ensured soon for the residents of these remote villages. He said that the government is committed to ensure better connectivity in these remote areas. The minister said this during an interaction with villagers at Karjok village in Ladakh, about 211 km from Leh. The government has proposed to distribute 1.5 lakh free ‘free dish’ connections in villages in border areas. Thakur said that the government was committed for the development of border villages.
He assured the local villagers that their demands for better digital connectivity and road connectivity, augmentation of tourism infrastructure, sports infrastructure and better Jal Jeevan Mission would also be met on priority basis. Thakur is on a three-day tour of Leh-Ladakh under the vibrant village program of the government. During this he stayed at Karjok village. He held a meeting with Union Territory and District officials to review Central/State Government schemes and distribution of sports equipment. According to an official statement, he also interacted with Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel at the Karjok Paltan post, located at an altitude of about 15,000 feet above sea level on the India-China border.
With an aim to assess the reach of various projects and schemes of the government and gain an insight into the challenges faced by the residents in remote villages along the India-China border, the Union Minister interacted with local villagers and administrative officials. Accompanied by a team of officials and local representatives, Thakur interacted with local villagers in Kharanak and Samad and inquired about their concerns and aspirations. Thakur assured the villagers that the government would provide all necessary help and resources to implement all the schemes effectively.
