PM Shehbaz Sharif to hand over power to caretaker government in August

Islamabad: On Thursday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced to the people of the country that his government will step down from power in August under an interim arrangement. The PM of Pakistan assured this to the public in his televised address to the nation. He said that during this time the transfer of power will happen without any hindrance and the way for the upcoming elections will be opened. Addressing the nation during a function in Islamabad, Sharif announced that the parliament will complete its term on August 14. This will open the way for an interim government and fresh elections. On August 12, 2018, a government was formed in Pakistan under the leadership of Imran Khan. Sharif is also the chairman of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party. In his address, Shahbaz also mentioned the three billion dollar aid received from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Pakistan. With this help of IMF, the danger of default from the country has been averted.
Attack on former PM Imran
He said the previous government had signed the agreement but then violated it and pushed the country to the brink of default. “While we were trying to restore the programme, the former rulers were busy hatching anti-national conspiracies day and night. Despite all odds, his government did not lose hope and successfully reached an agreement with the IMF. Today, the threat of Pakistan’s default and their nefarious desires have been buried.’
Thanks to China, Saudi and UAE
Shahbaz took the occasion to thank Pakistan’s brother countries, China, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for playing a “praiseworthy role” in bringing the country out of the economic crisis. Shahbaz’s point was that the caretaker government now allows it to focus on the upcoming elections without the burden of economic worries. Who will become the next PM
