New York: Hours before the Iowa caucuses begin the Republican presidential nomination process, Indian-American presidential candidate Nikki Haley has said she is no longer interested in playing the role of vice president. Braving the icy cold of Iowa and hoping for a strong victory in the state, the only woman in the 2024 presidential race is confident of her election as the next US President.

“Haley said, I have no interest in becoming Vice President. I’m running to be president and I’m running to win and we will win. According to recent polls, Haley has a bigger lead over President Joe Biden than Trump or Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in a head-to-head contest.

“Republicans need to start winning again,” Haley said in a post on Twitter on Sunday. I will defeat Joe Biden in the general election. An Emerson College Polling/WHDH New Hampshire survey released last week found Haley at 28 percent in the state’s presidential primary, up from 18 percent in November 2023. Trump, on the other hand, has 44 percent support among Republican primary voters in the state, down from 49 percent in November last year.

With the New Hampshire primary on January 23 and the South Carolina primary on February 3, the former UN ambassador said the Republican presidential race will be a showdown between him and Trump. Haley told, ‘I think Donald Trump and I are going to New Hampshire. And you will see that it is already close. It’s going to get even closer, and then we’re taking it to our state in South Carolina.

Asked by CBS what she would say to voters who like her as vice president but who are still supporting Trump, Haley said: ‘Well, I guess look, if You want four more years of chaos, so that’s what you’re going to do.’ Haley reiterated that she does not want fellow Indian-American Kamala Harris as president. “We will hold our breath, I don’t want President Kamala Harris,” Haley said.
