Islamabad: Pakistan is ‘seriously’ considering reestablishing trade relations with India. Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar has said this. His statement indicates a possible change in diplomatic stance with the neighboring country. Pakistan’s trade relations with India are suspended since August, 2019. Dar made the remarks during a press conference in London after attending the Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels, Geo News reported.
He indicated that the business community of his country, which is facing cash crunch, is keen to resume trade activities with India. The Foreign Minister said, Pakistani businessmen want trade with India to resume. He said that we will consider reestablishing trade relations with India. Express Tribune newspaper quoted Dar as saying, we will look seriously at trade matters with India.
His comments indicate a possible change in the diplomatic stance towards India. Pakistan had significantly reduced its diplomatic activities with India after the Indian government abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution, revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, and divided the state into two union territories.
