According to the report, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina reached the polling station at 8 am on Sunday and voted along with her daughter Saima Wajed, sister Sheikh Rehana and nephew Radwan Mujeeb Siddiqui. According to the information, Sheikh Hasina is a voter of Dhaka-10 constituency in the 12th general election. Presently she is contesting from Gopajganj-3 constituency.

Voting continues amid tight security

Voting percentage was very low at many polling stations in the first two hours after voting started at 8 am local time. Voting will continue till 4 pm. Bangladesh Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman said, “I think the voting percentage will not be less than 50 percent by the evening. The atmosphere is peaceful across the country.” According to the country’s Election Commission, a total of 11.96 crore registered voters will exercise their franchise in the voting taking place on Sunday at more than 42,000 polling stations.

Voting is taking place in 299 seats out of 300 constituencies. Voting for one seat will be conducted later due to the death of a candidate. More than 1,500 candidates from 27 political parties are contesting the elections and apart from them there are also 436 independent candidates. More than 100 foreign observers, including three observers from India, will monitor the 12th general elections. This election is being conducted amidst tight security.
