Singapore: A man of Indian origin jailed for molesting a domestic help.

An Indian-origin man has been sentenced to 10 months in jail for molesting a woman and causing injury to another person with a weapon. According to court documents, on September 28, 2022, when a domestic help was going to buy food, Singaram Paliyanepan (61) tried to give the domestic help money to buy beverages, but she refused.

Later, on Singaram’s insistence, he took the money. When she started going to her employer’s residence after purchasing food items, Tosingaram followed her. After both of them reached the lift of a residential building, Singaram pressed the button for the 17th floor, when the woman started pressing the button for the fifth floor, he stopped her.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Jordi K. Said that Singaram molested the domestic help while the lift was running. After the lift reached the 17th floor, Singaram asked the victim to come along.

After the woman’s refusal, Singaram also came back into the lift and pressed the button to take the lift to the seventh floor and then molested the woman. All his actions were captured in the CCTV camera.

Singaram was arrested on 28 September and released on bail the next day. About a month later, on October 28, Singaram assaulted a man at a bicycle shop.
