Sri Lanka hopes for fruitful talks during the ongoing debt restructuring talks with the IMF from Monday in Washington and the spring meetings of the World Bank. Sri Lanka will be represented in these talks by Minister of State for Finance Shehan Semasinghe. Apart from the Minister of State for Finance, Central Bank Governor and Finance Secretary Mahinda Siriwardene will also be in this delegation.

The delegation for these talks will be led by Sri Lankan Minister of State for Finance Shehan Semasinghe. The delegation includes senior government officials including Central Bank Governor Nandlal Weerasinghe and Finance Secretary Mahinda Siriwardene.
Semasinghe said that through partnerships and collective efforts, Sri Lanka will succeed in achieving high growth. He said that during this period, talks will be important to get the next tranche of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) relief package of US $ 2.9 billion. Semasinghe said that this amount will be used to provide relief to low-income families. More than 1.82 lakh such families will be given cash assistance by the end of this week.
