According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), between August 2017 and July 2020, Patel hacked the Phoenix-based computers of an international hospitality company on multiple occasions. Patel then fraudulently transferred and redeemed customer reward points from the company’s customer loyalty program. In addition, Patel also stole credit card numbers and other personally identifying information from customers and loyalty program members that were stored on company computers.
Patel took screenshots of customer and member information, including credit card numbers and other PII. He then saved these screenshots in Google Drive controlled by him. In all, the FBI investigation revealed that between August 2017 and July 2020, Patel stole and possessed more than 1,200 credit card numbers.

Patel used some of the stolen credit card numbers to make unauthorized purchases and also tried to sell some of the stolen credit card numbers. Patel has been convicted on all charges and will spend the next four years in jail. He was also ordered to pay $87,522.25 in restitution to his victims.
