islamabad (Uttam Hindu News): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gauhar said on Saturday that party founder Imran Khan will decide who will be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. The party is claiming to be in a strong position after winning 170 National Assembly seats in the general elections held in Pakistan on February 8, The Express Tribune reported.
The report said that Gauhar, while addressing a press conference in Islamabad, said, Imran Khan will decide who will be the next Prime Minister. He is a leader, whether in jail or outside. Gauhar also claimed that the party contested 265 National Assembly seats and won 170 seats.
According to The Express Tribune report, 94 of these are those who are being accepted by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and have issued Form-47 to them. In 22 other seats where PTI had won, that victory turned into defeat. Pakistan’s general elections have been the most contested in recent years, with former Prime Minister Imran Khan jailed. His arch rival Nawaz Sharif appears to be the favorite of the powerful military-led establishment.
Initial results show that after a polarized campaign filled with allegations of rigging and still no clear winner, Imran Khan’s candidates have performed better than expected, reports The Express Tribune.
